Ear Tubes

Miss Kyrsten finally got her ear tubes put in this morning. The procedure was amazingly quick- 6 minutes from them time they took her back till the doctor came out to tell us he was done!! Unfortunately the hours before and after the procedure weren't the best. We thought that it would be a great idea to stay a little closer to the surgery center so we wouldn't have to drive up so early in the morning. This idea did not go as well as planned. Jason and Brandi (Jeff's brother and wife) were so sweet to open their house to us last minute. They even gave us their room to sleep in! Thanks again guys!! I do wish there would have been more sleeping going on. Kyrsten was not happy with the idea of sleeping somewhere else. She really only likes to sleep in her crib. I think she got about a total of 4 to 5 hours of sleep max, leaving Jeff and I with a couple maybe. Needless to say the three of us were TIRED and slightly grumpy when we arrived at the surgery center. Thankfully we didn't have to wait too long before the surgery. I was sad when they took her from the pre-op room and we just had to stay behind, but it was best I didn't have to see them put her under. She is an extreme fighter so I am sure that was not a pleasant experience. Then 6 minutes later the doctor came out and said they were done and a few minutes later they took us back to the post-op room where we were met with a screaming child. Wow- she did not like coming off the anesthesia. Sadly, she pretty much cried most of the way home and was inconsolable. She did finally go back to sleep right before we got home and took a good 4 1/2 hour nap! She woke up pretty happy and hungry. Did I mention she couldn't have anything to eat or drink for 6 hours before the surgery. Try explaining that to a 16 month old. Anyway, she did great this evening! My mom took Hayley last night for us and is so nice to watch her again tonight so we can get a good nights sleep-hopefully! Kyrsten is loving the full attention, we figured she really deserved it today! We sure hope the tubes will keep those ear infections away now!!

Glad everything went well! Surgery is never fun with little ones...Emeline had to be put under for an eye surgery at about that age! Sometimes, I think it is more traumatic for Moms!! Good luck!

Glad everything went smoothly. We've had both our boys put under, Ethan at 3 years and Colby at 3 days old. It's never fun. Hopefully those ears will stop bothering her!
We want to go camping sometime soon. Are you guys in?

Jeff & Katie!! We found our page from Cassie's blog. This is so random but we just HAD to say hi. We cannont get over the fact that Hayley has grown up so much!! She is as cute as ever though. Wow. We're a little jealous you guys moved back to Arizona. I dragged Josh to Utah and we're both missing A-town right about now. We've had a really cold winter. Anyways, just had to say hi. It was nice to see how you've been. Take care! Love, Josh and Becca Barnes (haylie's old nursery leader and buds at CU of course)
